Local Run/Walks Coming Up

As I start to prepare for my participation in the Disney Princess Half Marathon in Orlando, Florida in February, I have signed up to take part in some local 5K Run/Walks. Please feel free to join me to raise funds and awareness to benefit Lung Cancer Research.

September 25, Chelmsford, MA - Free to Breathe Lung Cancer Fun Run/Walk and Kid's Dash, fundraising for Lung Cancer Research and Awarness. http://www.freetobreathe.org/ This is an event that is happening in locations all over the country, so if you are not in Massachusetts for September 25, check out your local area to find the event closest to you.

November 20, Lowell, MA - The Ninth Annual Marcia Lemkin Foundation Race & Walk to Conquer Lung Cancer. http://www.marcialemkinlungcancerfoundation.org/ This event benefits Lowell General Hospital's TeamWalk for CancerCare Lung Cancer Programs. As many of you may know, I was the Honorary Chairperson for the LGH TeamWalk for CancerCare in 2010, so any fundraising events for this walk are near and dear to my heart! Please join me to help make a difference and help LGH raise funds for the 2012 TeamWalk for CancerCare. http://www.lowellgeneral.org/.

Thank you and hope to see you all at these events either volunteering or walking/running!

Annual Fall Back to School Fashion Show at the Watertown Mall

On Saturday, September 9, I was asked to emcee the Annual Fall Back to School Fashion Show at the Watertown Mall for the second year in a row. This year's fashions were provided by Target, Work N' Gear, Avenue, Payless Shoes, and Moda. I had some very special guests with me, Miss Petite America and the New England Ethnic World and Ethnic World National Titleholders along with many young models from across the Boston Area. It is a wonderful event as all models are able to choose their own outfits and show off the latest trends that are in style today. Thank you to Jenna at the Watertown Mall for asking me to come back, it was a blast! For more information on the Watertown Mall and its retailers, please visit: http://www.watertown-mall.com/.

Show of Hope Concert

Please come support my friend Stefani Bush and the Show of Hope Concert to benefit Mitochondrial Disease. Stefani along with her two young children and her mother suffer from this life-threatening neuro-muscular disease. She is a beautiful singer and song writer, and I promise you will have a wonderful time, be touched by her amazing voice, and feel good for helping out a great cause. Please visit the event website at: http://www.showofhope.org/, and to learn more about Mitochondrial Disease, please visit: http://www.ufmdf.org/. To listen to some of Stefani's songs and also to read about her story, please visit: http://www.hoperisingmusic.com/.

Thank you!

September

Well, I have taken some time off from blogging since my year as Mrs. Massachusetts International 2010, and now I am back! I have a lot of things going on in September, and I feel that sharing a blog helps to create awareness to causes and events that you may not otherwise have heard about. I will also share the little things in my life, and hopefully through the people I know and meet, offer and share some inspiration, especially during those times that you may really need it! Through my previous blog, I found it to be such a great memory keeper, and my hope is that with technology, someday Sierra will be able to see the things that she and I were involved with in life and show her how important giving back and giving a part of yourself to others is. I look forward to sharing with you, and welcome you offering comments and have you sharing back with me!

Enjoy and talk soon!

Jane :-)
